This antique necklace comes together through several beautiful elements. The focal, dated late 1800's, is a unique and stunning Marian altar that comes from the monasteries of France.
Each domed reliquary is a devotional work of art. Some of these can be quite large and are meant to hang on the wall or altar...others are more petite, like this one, and are meant to be pendants, worn on the altar of the body. This altar is slightly larger and yet feels and looks great against the body. It is bold, yet elegant and sensuous.
I have suspended the reliquary from a lovely antique paste brooch. The neck chain is crafted from natural faceted amazonite that is still merged with its matrix. Each bead is lovingly hand wrapped and capped to stay with the old world rosary design.
Neck size is set at 17 inches with a 5 inch extension, and so may be worn shorter or longer. The extension is finished with a lovely chandelier crystal that represents the light and jewel of the female mysteries.
The focal drops 6 inches. The domed reliquary, itself, is 3.5 inches long by 2.5 inches wide.
Looks lovely on all size frames.

Note: there is a slight bit of fine dust contained within the relic that cannot be removed. This is sometimes the case with antique domed reliquaries. This fact does not take away from the image or reliquary, yet in this case adds to its charm and mystery. To the naked eye, is not evident. It is simply a part of the reality of the piece that adds a hint of smokey cathedral look and feel.
